What are the available models of Pipe Repair Packers?
PlugCo offers four different models of pipe repair packers as per the application requirements.
Lateral Flexible Packers
Lateral Flexible Packers, designated as FPP Models in PlugCo Catalog, are used for standard applications. When the flow in the pipe to repair can be stopped and there are no special cases such as confined access points or non-straight pipe, the suitable model to be used is the Lateral Flexible Packer. This model is available for pipe diameters between 1” (25mm) and 60” (1500mm) with lengths varying between 2’ (600mm) and 17’ (5100mm).
Flow Through Pipe Packers
Flow Through Pipe Packers, designated as FTP Models in PlugCo Catalog, is similar to Lateral Flexible Packers but includes a Bypass line and wheels. When the flow in the pipe to repair needs to be bypassed during the repair works, the model to be used is the Flow Through Pipe Packer. This model is available for pipe diameters from 6” (150mm) up to 60” (1500mm) with lengths varying between 4.5’ (1350mm) and 17’ (5100mm).
Bendy Packers
Bendy Packers are referred by BP Models in PlugCo Catalog. In case the point to repair is a 45-degree or 90-degree elbow, the Bendy Packer is the only solution that can be used. This model is also used for p-trap pipes. This model is available for pipe diameters between 2” (50mm) up to 16” (400mm).
Pillow Pipe Packers
Pillow Packers are referred by FPP-P Models in PlugCo Catalog. In case the access point to the pipe to repair is confined and lateral flexible pipe packers cannot be used, the Pillow Pipe Packer Model would be the ideal solution. This model is also used for large pipe diameters as it is light, foldable and easier to handle. This model is available for pipe diameters between 12” (300mm) and 72” (1800mm).
How does the Pipe Repair Packer work?
Pipe repair packers are also known as point repair carriers. The reason why they are called carriers is that they are used to carry the pipe patch to the damaged point. The pipe patch is a short sleeve of matte glass fiber-reinforced silicate resin. The steps of using a flexible packer are simply explained in the following video.
Pipe Repair Packer Installation Tips
When using a pipe repair packer, there are a few tips that can help ensure a successful repair. Firstly, make sure the pipe is clean and free from any debris or obstructions. This will allow the packer to create a strong seal against the pipe walls. Additionally, make sure to accurately measure the length of the damaged pipe section to ensure that the packer is the correct size and can cover the damaged area completely.
